The Tours de Merle are set in a dramatic landscape high above the Maronne River, which runs in a gorge below.
They are the remains of a feudal stronghold where seven towers were built between the 12th and 13th C, each one belonging to a different lord. When peace came the site gradually fell into ruins. Now it is part of a 10-hectare park with a reconstituted farm, a medieval garden and medieval activities such as falconry.
