Saint-Emilion is a medieval jewel, perched on a rocky headland among the vineyards that have existed here for centuries. Its vineyards were the first in the world to be listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Its origins go back to the 8th century when a monk named Emilion decided to settle here. The wines are still promoted by the Jurade, a wine brotherhood which was created in 1199 by King John of England. You can stroll through the steep streets of the town, visit wine cellars and taste the local specialty, delicious, golden macaroons.
