This is no secret that the love of good food and homemade cuisine is an essential part of French culture. Indeed, we are proud of our gastronomic heritage and we love to share it.
That is why food events are organised throughout the year in the Dordogne Valley.

‘L’assiette de Cyrano’ in Bergerac

August

The famous Bergerac personality gives his name to a good food and wine festival where the visitor can choose between different menus proposed by restaurateurs in the town centre at reasonable prices, each with a different theme ranging from Périgordian specialities to international cuisine. Wine producers team up with restaurateurs to serve their wine. Music and free shows in the street accompany the festival.

The Gourmet Celebration Days in Sarlat

You can taste local products, take part in cooking workshops and learn from demonstrations at a festival dedicated to local gastronomic delights. You can also join in a walk following sheep as they are herded from their summer to their winter pastureland.

Sarlat Truffle Festival

The 3rd weekend of January every year

Renowned chefs from Sarlat and from Michelin-starred restaurants in the area come together to give cooking demonstrations and lessons in the preparation of these iconic specialities. The Academy gives young chefs the chance to be creative with these delicacies.

The ‘Foires grasses’ are markets specialising in the sale of foie gras, truffles, goose and duck products.

The 3rd Sunday in February each year

For this festival, goose comes to town in a big way. Find out everything there is to know from egg to feather… Enjoy fun workshops for children, and a gigantic meal based on the specialties this generous bird provides.

Sarlat Walnut Festival

The Sarlat Walnut Festival is an opportunity to discover all the good things that can come from a walnut with activities and stands devoted to its products. There is also a competition to find the best local walnut oil.

‘Randonoix’ around Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne area

Last Sunday of September each year

Come out of your shell on this themed walk, which takes you to meet walnut growers and to taste their walnut-based products.
