Domme, is a fortified village perched on a breathtakingly high cliff. It was built under the orders of Philip III the Bold in the thirteenth century.

Early on, its fortified entrance, La Porte des Tours, was prison to 70 Templar Knights who wrote moving testimonies to their faith on the stone walls, which can still be seen.

Under the 18th C market place you can visit a natural cave with stalactites and stalagmites. Above ground you can admire the stone houses and buildings and look across the Dordogne Valley from the edge of the cliff.
